Woman Gives Birth to Baby Using 24-year-old Frozen Embryo

It’s been on ice.

Tina Gibson, 26, gave birth to her baby, Emma Wren Gibson, on November 25th using an embryo frozen on October 14th, 1992.

This marks delivery of the longest-frozen embryo to date – 24 years.

NEDC Lab Director Carol Sommerfelt said, “I will always remember what the Gibsons said when presented with the picture of their embryos at the time of transfer: ‘These embryos could have been my best friends.”
