Prison Riot After Prisoners Argue Over Watching Darts or Soccer

It’s a hard choice.

Prisoners arguing over whether to watch darts or soccer on television resulted in a prison riot.

Half a dozen guards were attacked with pool cues and other random weapons at HMP Shotts prison in Lanarkshire after prisoners argued over watching Gary Anderson go up against Phil “the Power’ Taylor in darts or the St Mirren-Dundee United Scottish Championship match.

“Some wanted to watch the football and others the darts. The staff and prisoners were caught up in intense violence before authorities could calm things down,” said a source. They added, “It shows what a dangerous place it can be – not just for prisoners but for guards just doing their jobs.”
