Nigerian President Buhari Ensures He’s Not a Clone

A conspiracy theory claims that Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari died and was replaced by an imposter, but he claims this is is false.

So many side eyes with this story.

President Buhari has been plagued by a rumor that he died and was replaced by a clone or imposter. The rumor took hold largely because Buhari spent 5 months in Britain being treated for an undisclosed illness. He continued to maintain control and rule despite being completely absent for nearly half the year.

Buhari is running for reelection in February, so he felt it necessary that he publicly dispel the rumor and let people know it’s him, not a clone or other imposter.

“It’s the real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong,” he said during a speech in Poland on Sunday.

“A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health. Some even reached out to the Vice President to consider them to be his deputy because they assumed I was dead. That embarrassed him a lot and of course, he visited me when I was in London convalescing,’’ and that the rumors were “ignorant and irreligious.”

Good to know.

Some believed Buhari had actually died and was replaced by an imposter from Sudan called Jubril.

While some questioned the theory, they still entertained the idea as possible.
